漢字は一切使用せず、ひらがなとカタカナでわかりやすく解説。類書にはない、英語表記と発音

I had the pleasure of illustrating the new picture book series for young children, “Madoake Zukan” (Peek-Through Encyclopedia).

The standout feature of Madoake Zukan is the abundance of interactive flaps on every spread. Each time a child lifts a flap, their curiosity is sparked?and along with it, their vocabulary and knowledge grow naturally. The series explores a wide range of topics, including global cuisine and culture. It’s a book that’s as fun and engaging for adults as it is for kids.

The flaps are made from sturdy paper, making them resistant to tearing even with repeated use by toddlers. All text is written entirely in hiragana and katakana, with no kanji, making it easy for young readers to follow along. Unlike similar books, this one also includes English words and pronunciation guides, helping children get familiar with English from an early age.

Volume 7, “World Cuisine”, introduces over 200 dishes and ingredients from around the globe. With more than 100 flaps to lift, kids get a fun, hands-on look at delicious foods and dining customs from every corner of the world?from classic national dishes to surprising, unique ingredients. It’s the perfect gift for curious kids who love food or want to learn more about other cultures.
