"Based in Nashville, Lauren Rolwing earned a B.F.A. from The Savannah College of Art & Design, where she studied illustration and fashion. Lauren’s work is bold, but uncluttered, and playful, yet sophisticated. She uses a limited color pallet with maximum contrast and geometric shapes. While drawing, she repeats the mantra by Constantin Brancusi, “Simplicity is complexity resolved.” Lauren cites a broad range of influences on her work – from the work of designers Paul Rand, Bruno Munari, Ikko Tanaka, and children’s illustrator Kveta Pacovská, to the 80s ads of San Franciscan clothing company Esprit, the clothes of Comme des Garçon and Issey Miyake, the humour, patterns and colour of the work of Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass, and beyond to the films of Fellini, Bergman and Jacques Tati.
